Brauhaus Schmitz

Brauhaus Schmitz has served German food and beer on South Street since 2009, running one of the more extensive German beer lists in the city with dozens of drafts and bottles. The dining room and bar are built around long communal tables in a bierhall style, and the kitchen serves schnitzel, wurst, and other German plates alongside the beer program. Beyond day-to-day service, Brauhaus Schmitz runs the annual South Street Oktoberfest and a spring Maifest block party on the 700 block of South Street, drawing large crowds under a temporary outdoor biergarten. For private groups, the restaurant offers both in-house events at its South Street location and off-site catering, describing itself as able to handle events of any size from small dinners to large gatherings, coordinated through a dedicated events team.
