Amada is chef Jose Garces' flagship Spanish restaurant in Old City, open since 2005 and built around small plates in the tapas tradition, a six seat chef's counter overlooking the open kitchen, and a Spanish focused wine and sherry list. The restaurant has a second dining room and lounge in addition to the main floor, along with dedicated event spaces used for private parties throughout the week: the Rosa Blanca Room, the Matador Lounge, and the Front Bar. Groups of 12 or more can book one of these spaces or take over sections of the restaurant, with tapas style menus built for shared eating. Amada anchors a corner of Chestnut Street in Old City, close to Independence Hall, and was one of the restaurants that helped establish Garces as a major presence in Philadelphia dining before he expanded citywide.
