Appleford is a 24 acre estate on Mount Moro Road in Villanova, on Philadelphia's Main Line. The property started as a one and a half story stone farmhouse built in 1728 and was expanded into its current form in the 1920s by landscape architect Thomas Sears and architect R. Brognard Okie. The house is furnished with antiques, art and china collected by a former owner, and includes a Music Room, Pine Room, Dining Room, a bridal suite and a groom's lounge. A flagstone terrace directly in front of the house is tented from April through November and holds up to 200 guests, with a built-in dance floor. The grounds also function as an arboretum and bird sanctuary, with meadows, woodland and a duck pond. The estate is owned by Lower Merion Township and has operated as a wedding and event venue for more than 40 years, with catering handled by an approved list of caterers.
