New-York Historical Society
Museums in New York
The New-York Historical Society occupies a landmark building across from Central Park at 77th Street and rents seven distinct spaces across four floors for private events. On the ground floor, the Robert H. and Clarice Smith New York Gallery of American History holds 450 guests for a reception, while the Robert H. Smith Auditorium seats 409 across orchestra and balcony levels with in-house AV support for screenings, talks, and concerts. The second floor pairs the neoclassical Patricia D. Klingenstein Library, with 50-foot ceilings and stained glass windows, with the adjoining Dexter Hall, home to a Picasso stage curtain and often rented together for dinners with exclusive collection access. The fourth-floor Gallery of Tiffany Lamps, connected by a glass staircase, adds a reception space for up to 300 guests and can extend across the full floor for 350. The Historical Society publishes downloadable floor plans, a price list, and event guidelines for planners, and its event history includes a Carolina Herrera runway show staged in Dexter Hall.
