Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum occupies Andrew Carnegie's former Fifth Avenue mansion on Manhattan's Museum Mile and rents eight rooms across the mansion and its adjoining townhouses. The Arthur Ross Terrace and Garden, the museum's largest space at 7,600 square feet, holds 500 seated or 1,000 standing guests and permits tenting, dance floors, and bands. Inside, the Great Hall, modeled on the main hall of Andrew Carnegie's Scottish estate, seats 65 or holds 250 standing beneath rich wood paneling and Tiffany-style lamps, with its own dance floor and band allowance for after-hours events. The adjoining Library, gilt-walled and lined with Carnegie's favorite quotes, and the Spoon Gallery provide additional daytime and evening space. In the neighboring Miller and Fox Townhouses, the Trustees Room and Miller Fox Library overlook the garden and suit smaller dinners, executive meetings, and wedding suites.
