BAM, the performing arts institution on Lafayette Avenue in Fort Greene, rents its five venues to commercial, nonprofit, and community groups when not in use for its own programming. The Howard Gilman Opera House, a Beaux-Arts space built by Herts and Tallant at the turn of the 20th century, seats 2,096 and has hosted rentals by Adele, Rufus Wainwright, and American Ballet Theatre, backed by a counterweight fly system, adjustable orchestra pit, and full lighting and sound inventory. The Harvey Theater, an award-winning restoration of a 1904 playhouse, and the more intimate Fishman Space round out BAM's performance venues, while the Adam E. Max Gathering Space, known as BAMcafe, suits standing receptions and the four-theater BAM Rose Cinemas handle screenings and premieres. Past rental clients span Jimmy Kimmel Live!, an Apple product launch, Madonna's Madame X tour, and Netflix and Live Nation productions. Great Performances caters BAM's rental events, and each venue's technical specs and seating chart are available on request.
