Gramercy Tavern
Farm-to-table in New York
Gramercy Tavern occupies a landmark building on East 20th Street in the Flatiron District, run by Danny Meyer's Union Square Hospitality Group since 1994. The restaurant splits into a casual front Tavern built around an open wood burning grill and a more formal seasonal Dining Room toward the back. Beyond the two public rooms, the restaurant keeps a separate Private Dining Room built around a single handcrafted table under a wood beamed ceiling, hung with rustic chandeliers and early American antiques, that seats up to twenty guests for a private lunch or dinner. Larger groups can take a full restaurant buyout, moving from cocktails in the Tavern into a seated dinner across the main Dining Room. The kitchen, led by chef Michael Anthony, builds its menu around produce from regional farms and changes it through the seasons. The restaurant has hosted private weddings and corporate dinners in addition to its regular service, and works with private event clients through a dedicated inquiry process separate from standard table reservations.
