The Angel Orensanz Foundation occupies a Gothic Revival building on Norfolk Street on the Lower East Side, built in 1849 as the Ansche Chesed Synagogue and now run as both a nonprofit arts foundation and a private event venue. The sanctuary's main floor and surrounding balcony sit beneath soaring vaulted ceilings and stained glass windows, with a lower level Green Room and a separate gallery space available for smaller functions. Standard rentals run from noon to midnight, giving a wedding, concert, or gala full use of the building for the day. The foundation's events director handles bookings directly, and the site publishes floor plans for each level along with stated capacities for the main floor and balcony. Past use includes weddings, fashion shows, bar and bat mitzvahs, and cultural programming tied to the foundation's history of hosting art world and literary figures.
